Long-standing medical marijuana provider, Maricann, launched Wayland Group this summer to answer the demand for a brand dedicated to recreational cannabis.
Working with Rebel & Thorn, we helped to create the launch identity for the brand. The Wayland name takes inspiration from mythology and as such there is an allusion to astrology through the dotted symbol (while mythical astrology is rooted in Greek and Roman myths, the fact that Wayland took to the sky with his hand-made wings felt appropriate and rich in layers). To add further richness, the colour palette is inspired by the night and morning skies.
Maricann intends to rebrand their entire company to Wayland later in 2018, based on the outcome of a board vote at which time there will be a more comprehensive case study to share.
